Pope Francis Emphasises the Role of Women in both the Church and Society

Pope Francis addressed an international conference on women in the Church, emphasizing the importance of recognizing women’s contributions and advocating for unity and education to promote women’s rights and dignity.

In his speech at the International Conference titled “Women in the Church: Builders of Humanity,” Pope Francis warmly greeted all participants, expressing gratitude for their presence and the organization of the event. “The Church needs to remember this, because the Church herself is a woman: a daughter, a bride, and a mother,” remarked the Pope.

He stressed the significance of acknowledging and appreciating women’s contributions within the community of believers, urging for unity, discernment, and collaboration to achieve this objective.

The conference, which brings together individuals from across the globe, focuses on highlighting the exemplary holiness of ten women: Josephine Bakhita, Magdeleine de Jesus, Elizabeth Ann Seton, Mary MacKillop, Laura Montoya, Kateri Tekakwitha, Teresa of Calcutta, Rafqa Pietra Choboq Ar-Rayès, Maria Beltrame Quattrocchi, and Daphrose Mukasanga.

Pope Francis underscored the importance of their charitable, educational, and prayerful endeavors, which serve as a unique manifestation of God’s holiness through the feminine genius.
