Wellington Women in Business Founders Honored with Community Award

Maz Vincent and Zoe Old, founders of the Wellington Women in Business group, have been recognized with the Wellington Town Council’s prestigious Community Award. Although they were unable to attend the official award ceremony last month, the duo recently received their accolades at the council’s offices on Fore Street.

Town Clerk Dave Farrow praised Vincent and Old for their unwavering dedication to supporting local women in business. “Marion Vincent and Zoe Old have demonstrated exceptional commitment to empowering women in the community. Their passion extends beyond just advancing business projects; they are equally focused on promoting mental health and well-being among local women. Their hard work and dedication deserve this recognition,” Farrow stated.

The Wellington Women in Business group, founded by Vincent and Old, has become a vital resource for local women entrepreneurs. The group not only fosters strong business connections but also creates a supportive environment where women can come together to network, share experiences, and support each other both professionally and socially. Their initiatives have had a lasting impact on the community, promoting local businesses and encouraging community involvement through various events and social activities.

The recognition has sparked an outpouring of congratulatory messages on social media from those who appreciate their efforts. One commenter wrote, “Great to be recognized for your efforts,” while another added, “Fabulously fabulous ladies. You both deserve it—well done.”

The Wellington Town Council’s annual awards, originally presented on August 5, also honored other community contributors. The Youth Award was given to Alex Potter, the Civic Award to Dave Mitton, and the Business Award to Odette’s Tearoom.

Vincent and Old’s recognition with the Community Award highlights the significant impact they have made in supporting women in business and strengthening the local community through their tireless efforts.
