In response to Dame Lesley Regan’s reappointment as England’s Women’s Health Ambassador, the NHS Confederation’s Health and Care Women Leaders Network offers its thoughts.
Professor Dame Lesley Regan has been reappointed by the government as England’s Women’s Health Ambassador for a further two years, ending in December 2025.
“The Health and Care Women Leaders Network is delighted to hear of Dame Lesley Regan’s reappointment as the Women’s Health Ambassador for England,” stated Sam Allen, chair of the NHS Confederation’s Health and Care Women Leaders Network.
Given that women make up 82% of the social care workforce and 78% of the NHS staff, this announcement is in line with our commitment to increasing women’s health and gender equality across the healthcare industry. It also entails better supporting the health and care workforce.
Our shared mission is energized by Dame Lesley’s unwavering leadership, and we’ll keep pushing for the Women’s Health Strategy’s implementation. Our mission is to translate the goals of the plan into real improvements in healthcare practices that take into account the unique needs of women. We are committed to advocating for women who work in the healthcare industry.”

Dame Lesley Regan and Emma Challans-Rasool will speak at the third virtual fireside conversation, which the Health and Care Women Leaders Network will conduct on February 15 from 5 to 6.15 p.m.
