11 Women Groups from Meath Awarded €40,000 in Funding

As part of The Local Enhancement Programme 2024, eleven women’s groups in Meath have received cash totalling about €40,000. The initiative provided 500 women’s groups nationwide with funding ranging from around €5,000 to €1,000. Minister Humphreys revealed the news yesterday when visiting the Trim Women’s Shed, which received a €2,500 grant as part of the program.
Small subsidies are being given as part of the program to help organizations in each county upgrade and renovate their buildings and buy equipment.

Women’s and Hen’s Sheds, Camogie and GAA Clubs, ICA Groups, Toddler Groups, Girl Guides, and other organizations are among the organizations that are getting money.

The Minister for Rural and Community Development, Heather Humphreys TD, made the following statement during the announcement in Trim: “I am thrilled to announce the successful projects for Women’s Sheds, Groups, and Networks throughout the country today. These organizations put in a lot of effort in their local communities to give people of all ages a place to socialize, improve their skills, unwind, and much more. The efforts, sense of camaraderie, and philosophy of the countless organizations that dedicate a great deal of their time to bettering their communities never cease to astound me. I want you to know that I observe what you do and that my Department hopes to be able to assist with these awards.

“To the successful groups, the grants today may be small in value, but they are invaluable – they can open up so many possibilities for so many people,” Minister Humphreys continued. I’ll keep interacting with the Irish community to find out how my Department can help you in the future.I would like to invite all organizations to visit www.gov.ie/drcd to see whether any of my department’s programs can help them as well.

Delivery of the funding is a component of The Local Enhancement Programme 2024.
€1 million of the €6 million in capital supports for community groups and organizations across Ireland was set aside for women’s groups under this program.

Data obtained from the distribution of these supports will assist the Department in better understanding the national distribution of Women’s Sheds, Groups, and Networks. The Department will use this information to determine how to support these groups going forward. The €100,000 that was set aside for women’s sheds under the Community Enhancement Programme 2022 is increased by this cash.
